by heathermorrow· January 25, 2015· in Seniors, What to Wear for Senior Portraits· 0 comments tags: gina holmberg, kansas city senior portraits, what to wear for senior portraits
i’m sneaking in a late night blog post in honor of this lovely young lady who will celebrate a birthday tomorrow. i’ve had the honor of having her and her amazing family in front of my camera more than once and it’s been so wonderful to watch her grow up these last few years. she’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and i simply love spending time and working with her. i knew we would love these before we even started shooting! that dress…so perfect for this great urban location. emma is such a natural in front of the camera and her eyes are just incredible! i love photographing horses and this session was no exception. gotta love that beautiful sunset light and the love this girl has for her horse. i wish you all the best on your birthday and in the future, emma. i have no doubt that life has great things in store for you! emma’s hair and makeup by the talented gina holmberg. we are still booking senior portraits for the class of 2015 and we’ve already started booking the class of 2016. for information or to book a session shoot us […]

noah – a kansas city senior portrait session

by heathermorrow· December 20, 2014· in Families, Seniors, What to Wear for Senior Portraits· 0 comments tags: senior portraits, what to wear for senior portraits
i don’t always photograph senior boys but when i do they’re ridiculously photogenic. like noah. boys, THIS is how you dress for senior portraits. i always suggest wearing something casual, something on trend and most definitely something timeless. you don’t want to look back on your senior portraits and say, “what was i thinking?’ with noah’s great style i know that won’t be happening to him. or his little brother myles. talk about a future heartbreaker!  did you know that for senior portrait sessions we offer a complimentary mini family or sibling session on the same day? while you’re camera ready why not have your siblings or even the whole family hop in for a few shots. this can be done at the beginning or the end of your session which makes it super quick and painless. noah, thanks for trusting me to create unique senior portraits that tell your story. you’re a bright young man with a wonderful personality (and killer style) and i can’t wait to see what the future hold for you. it’s been an incredible year for us at hocus focus. we’ve got some really exciting things happening in the year ahead and so many more […]

katie – a kansas city senior portrait session

by heathermorrow· May 01, 2014· in Seniors, What to Wear for Senior Portraits· 0 comments tags: fashion inspired senior portraits, gina ciaccio-holmberg, kansas city senior portraits, what to wear for senior portraits
it’s no secret that i love doing senior portraits. getting to know these amazing young ladies and hearing about their hopes and dreams for the future is so exciting. i met katie a few years ago when i photographed her family during a day of mini sessions and i knew then that i wanted her to be one of my senior spokesmodels. she’s got such a fresh, natural look about her and a super sweet personality to match. gina ciaccio-holmberg did an amazing job on katie’s hair and makeup and together we had a really fun afternoon shooting. katie, you were a dream to work with and i wish you all the best as you graduate and head off to college. i have no doubt wherever life takes you, you will find success. believe it or not, we’ve already begun booking senior portrait sessions for the class of 2015. call 913.787.2527 or email us for more information on booking a senior session.

lauren | fashion inspired kansas city senior portraits

by heathermorrow· December 03, 2013· in Seniors, Shopping, What to Wear for Senior Portraits· 0 comments tags: addie rose boutique, gina ciaccio-holmberg, kansas city senior portraits, what to wear for senior portraits
i shot some really incredible senior portrait sessions this fall and this one is definite favorite. lauren is the perfect example of what to wear for senior portraits. she works at addie rose boutique so i knew she would have an amazing wardrobe but it’s her personal style that i really love. she’s the perfect mix of edgy and feminine and fun. i fell in love with this first outfit – the dress and necklace are both from addie rose. another addie rose necklace. if you’ve ever shot with me you know that i tend to get a little excited when i’m shooting. the top left shot in this next series was one that made me squeal. i knew the second i clicked the shutter that it would be the one. really, this whole series is on my list of favorites. and that bottom right close up…seriously, lauren! it was this series that made me realize what a natural lauren is in front of the camera. so much so that i recently referred her to one of the modeling agencies i work with. my fingers are crossed that she gets signed! another great addie rose outfit in this series. lauren and […]

caty – kansas city senior portraits

by heathermorrow· September 17, 2013· in Seniors, Studio, What to Wear for Senior Portraits· 2 comments tags: beachy waves for senior portraits, black and white senior portaits, kansas city senior portraits, makeup artist melissa evans, what to wear for senior portraits
i have so many senior sessions to blog. this is one from last fall that i realized i never posted and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. if there was a poster child for what to wear for senior portraits, it would be caty. her wardrobe was amazing! she brought such a great mix of classic, trendy, casual and dressy and her choices were full of color and texture, which always photographs so well. if i could raid caty’s closet i totally would. caty has flawless skin so makeup artist and hair stylist melissa evans used warm tones to create a perfect sun-kissed glow that was fresh and youthful. after we left the studio we hit lots of great locations to create a variety of looks for caty. i loved this outfit – the mix of color, pattern and texture were perfect with these incredible green doors. one of my strengths as a photographer is posing but because caty is such a natural in front of the camera she really didn’t need much direction. i could have shot her all day! there really isn’t a color caty can’t pull of. and those shoes! i’m such a sucker for shoes. this series was […]

hocus focus senior spokesmodel miranda

by heathermorrow· November 27, 2012· in Seniors, Style· 1 comments tags: kansas city senior portraits, what to wear for senior portraits
there’s so much i could say about 2013 senior spokesmodel miranda. hers was one of my favorite senior portrait sessions of all time (hence the most gigantic blog post ever). i don’t have to tell you that miranda is beautiful or that she’s got an incredible sense of style and hair straight out of a shampoo commercial. her senior portraits will show you that. miranda’s hair and makeup were done by the always fab melissa evans! what you may not know about miranda is that she’s a very talented artist and an aspiring graphic designer. she brought her sketch book to her photo shoot and i was truly blown away by her work, especially her watercolors. in fact, they inspired a new album design that miranda and i are collaborating on. we met at the studio last week to begin outlining our vision for the project and i’m super excited to see how it all comes together. here’s a screen shot of what we’re working on. did i or did i not tell you she has shampoo commercial hair….i loved this series on the red sofa – perfect with her dress and shoes! i love that she brought her hot […]
