by heathermorrow· January 10, 2014· in Shopping, Style· 0 comments tags: hunter boots, rainy day style, style friday
inspired by this rainy day we’ve decided to theme today’s style friday around the perfect rainy day footwear, the hunter boot. if you don’t have a pair of these wellies, grab yourself a pair. zappos has a great variety. they tend to run a bit small, so you might want to order a half size up to ensure you can layer up some some thick socks. it’s all about how you layer. check out some of these stylish layered options and stay dry out there! stylishly yours, jordan and heather

by heathermorrow· April 26, 2013· in Editorial, Her Life Magazine, Style· 0 comments tags: her life magazine, kansas city fashion photographer, kansas city shopping, lavish boutique, melissa evans, soffia via, spring style, style friday
it’s finally friday! the weather in kansas city has included everything from snow to sunshine to rain this week. i can’t quite pack up my fall/winter clothes yet but i’m dying to bust out my spring wardrobe and this shoot for the april issue of her life magazine didn’t help. seeing everything lavish boutique has for spring and summer just made me long for warmer weather even more. i’m loving all the bright colors and i’m so happy to see that the neon craze isn’t over yet. i’m slightly obsessed with this darling cream dress and the way we accessorized it. i can’t get enough of bright colors paired with animal prints. and the high curly ponytail…such a fresh look for spring. and can we just talk about this stunning statement necklace for a minute? i was at lavish working with angel to pull wardrobe for the shoot when i spotted it from across the store. it stopped me in my tracks. (you know me…easily distracted by all things shiny.) i told angel we simply HAD to photograph this necklace and that she might as well tell me the price because once i photographed it i had no intention of returning it. i’ve […]

style friday – spring cleaning (your closet)

by heathermorrow· April 05, 2013· in Style· 0 comments tags: closet makeover, spring cleaning, style friday
happy friday! gorgeous weather has finally hit kansas city and now is the perfect time to do a little spring cleaning. but not the kind that requires toxic chemicals and rubber gloves. we’re talking about your closet! hopefully this acts as a little motivator for you and since we’re posting about it, we’re definitely going to have to do it, too. here are a few tips to help you get that spring closet cleaning underway. 1.)  ditch the clutter. if you haven’t worn it in the last year put it in a give away pile. chances are you won’t even miss it later. 2.) donate or host a clothing swap. give someone else a chance to love your stuff the way you did.  3.) orgaznize. arizona foothills magazine provides some great tips on organizing what you decide to keep. 4.) fine tune your style. find what inspires you – flip through a magazine, check out some new blogs (we love cara loren and ), hop on our pinterest i’d wear that board, … whatever floats your boat. 5.) buy something new. now that you’ve done all that work, you deserve something new. good luck and enjoy the weekend! happy friday, all! it finally feels like spring in kc and it’s about time. for sping13 we’re crazy over patterns. after taking much greif (cough, cough, chad.) jordan decided to ask a stylist on set if patterned pants really were too much…. turns out that she confirmed our thoughts about how much they rocked and that confirmation inspired a major pinning spree. there are several ways to pull off patterned pants. we’ve pinned some of our favorites. let’s face it…they rock. and you will too, if you wear them. they scream confidence and cool! we’ve pinned (and fallen head over heels for) florals, polka dot, animal prints, geometrics, tribal prints and more! with so many options you’ll find a pair you can dress up or dress down. now get out and by yourself a pair. halls kansas city has some great options and if you don’t already follow them in instagram, you should! their feed is full spring fashion and loads of pattern right now. oh, and our good friend meg at chasing davies recently posted about a pair of perfect patterned pants. and what’s better than a pair of patterned pants? REVERSIBLE patterned pants! oh, yes! these are a must see. head over to meg’s blog to check them out. by heathermorrow· February 15, 2013· in Babies and Kids, Families, Shopping, Style, What to Wear for Family Portraits· 1 comments tags: chasing davies, meg davey, mixing patterns, style friday, what to wear for family portraits, what to wear for senior
happy friday everyone! we are excited to have a guest post from one of our favorite kansas city fashion bloggers, meg davey.  meg dedicates her blog, chasing davies, to her evolving personal style and her new role as a mama. i’ve always loved meg’s eye for mixing patterns. she really inspires me to think differently about fashion and to see my own wardrobe in a new light. i had the opportunity to photograph meg and her darling little family last fall and as expected i was head over heels for the way the styled herself and her family.   for today’s style friday feature meg has cooked up a fabulous post to share three simple ways to mix and match patterns. i hope you enjoy! –H  Mixing patterns can be a daunting thought and overwhelming for many!  While I don’t know if there is any actual expertise in pattern mixing, I’d like to think I’ve played (and failed) with styling multiple patterns to know a thing or two.  Here are three easy steps to mixing prints. 1. My first piece of advice, just do it.  Play around with different clothing items in a dressing room or in the comfort of your own home […]

style friday– top 10 winter accessories

by heathermorrow· December 21, 2012· in My Favorite Things, Products, Shopping, Style· 0 comments tags: style friday, winter accessories
happy friday y’all! a cold front hit early this week and we were finally able to start wearing those snuggly warm winter accessories. check out our top 10 ways to stay warm and stylish this winter! 1.) you can wear a dress all year long if you throw a chunky sweater over it– just add tights, and a cable knit infinity scarf 2.) as you all know coffee is a must at hocus focus. this coffee cup cozy is hand-knit with a gorgeous cable stitch. 3.) recently i purchased something super similar at madewell – faux, of course.  this is an ASOS snood. scarf/hood. 4.) faux fur vest. so cute. brown or black– both chic. 5.) grey/black knit hat with a pop. 6.) long chunky sweaters. totally in. try mixing with stripes and a floppy hat. i just bought an orange one at nomads in lawrence and it’s quickly become a staple of my winter wardrobe. 7.) but how can you text without texting gloves. these happen to be cashmere. 8.) now these are jordan’s grandmas vintage gloves— you can’t go wrong with vintage especially with that gogeous leather. j – if these come up missing, don’t come looking for me. style friday – an ipsy glam bag review

by heathermorrow· November 16, 2012· in My Favorite Things, Shopping, Style· 0 comments tags: beauty products, birchbox, ipsy glam bag, makeup, style friday
while doing some facebook stalking..err browsing, i recently came across the glam bag by ipsy and for a first try i am genuinely impressed. for those of you who are unfamiliar, ipsy was created by michelle phan with the concept to help women find the perfect combination of products to fit their needs. like the birchbox, which i also subscribe to and love (see my birchbox review here), the ipsy glam bag starts at $10 a month. rather than the cardboard birchbox that i usually repurpose or recycle, ipsy subscribers receive small cosmetic bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. you can also explore their monthly videos to learn how to use each product. this was my november “party perfect” glam bag by ipsy. the bag itself is a pretty chic silk brown bag, but what’s inside is what we were all looking forward to. jordan and i dug into the bag today and here’s what we think. the daredevil bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lip gloss was more like a stain. the gloss quickly dried up but the hint of color it left behind lasted through a few cups of coffee… it’s a little dark, but that’s in for fall, right? i haven’t tried the balm’s […]

style friday – those five little words every woman loves to hear

by heathermorrow· September 07, 2012· in My Favorite Things, Shopping, Style· 1 comments tags: beauty products, birchbox, madewell shopping spree, product review, style friday
YOUR SEPTEMBER BIRCHBOX HAS SHIPPED! my friend pam turned me on to birchbox a few months ago. the product junkie in me was instantly obsessed. birchbox delivers beauty samples to your door every month. when i initially signed up and was told there was a wait list i found the nearest corner and pouted like two year old. a few weeks later i received an email telling me my first birchbox was on it’s way. hello, christmas in july. and august. and september. this was my july birchbox. the earbuds weren’t fantastic – i have a really nice pair so my girls got these and because i hate all things banana i gave the larabar to a friend. the eyeko skinny liquid eyeliner was really easy to apply but felt a bit sticky even after it dried (not enough to make me not use it again) and i did like the olive color, which is a nice change from the blacks and bronzes that i usually wear. and i really loved the rest of the products, especially the amika hair mask and oil treatment, the boscia bb cream and the harvey prince hello perfume. overall, i was really happy with […]
