715 days

what a difference 715 days can make! there’s nothing i love more than watching babies grow, especially this one, who was such a miracle for her mama and daddy. they waited and wished and prayed for her. oh, how they prayed for her! i met julianne for her newborn photos when she was two weeks old and the amount of joy she brought to her parents lives is nearly indescribable. she was most certainly a blessing from above. i saw her again for her one year portraits and it was obvious matthew and jenny had fallen madly in love with their precious little girl. and i was lucky enough to see her for another important milestone yesterday – it was the day before her second birthday. it’s amazing to see how much she’s grown. we laughed and played and walked and talked about all of her favorite things yesterday. what a difference 715 days can make! jules is a happy, healthy, busy – and i do mean busy – two year old now. and in a few months she’ll be a big sister. i couldn’t be happier for this soon-to-be family of four and will anxiously await the phone call to photograph her […]

I shared a couple of sneak peeks of Quinlynn and Hallie a few weeks ago. Here are a few more favorites from my session with these two beautiful girls. And yes – as always – the baby fever is full effect. These teeny tiny ones get me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Love this next one so much! We used it on the inside of Quinlynn's birth announcement and their mama ordered a 22×22 canvas of it. Can't wait to see it on her wall! It's been a while since I photographed a two year old. I had almost forgotten how much fun they are! Couldn't you just eat her up? She's seriously one of the cutest little things I've ever seen. There aren't many things a two year old loves more than a lollipop!  Lindsey and Nate, it was such a pleasure to photograph precious little your girls. I can't wait for our next session! Lots of love, H

Last week I shared a sneak peek of Miss Hallie, but I had to wait for her baby sister's birth announcements to go out before sharing her sneak peek.  I can't tell you how excited I was when I walked in to Nate and Lindsey's house and saw their coffee table. Instantly, I knew we had to incorporate it in our session. Meet Miss Quinlynn Tate.  Hallie loves her so much! She's going to be a great big sister. Is that tree stump table not amazing? I told Nate and Lindsey that if they ever decide to get rid of it I've got dibs.  More to come soon! I've got lots of editing to do this week so stay tuned. Happy Monday! H

Reese | Kansas City Newborn Photography

Reese and I…we've got history. I photographed her parents engagement session, their wedding and their maternity session. Erin and Brian have such a beautiful love for each other. They both come from tight-knit, loving families and I always knew they would be amazing parents so I was delighted when they asked me to do Reese's newborn portraits. She's an adorable little girl who came into this world with an amazing amount of love waiting for her. Here, she looks just like her beautiful mama… And my absolute favorite… We're shooting Reese's six month pics this afternoon and it wasn't until now that I realized I'd never shared her newborn session. I think I'm even more excited for this one than I was the newborn session, if that's possible. She's sitting up now and you'll just die when you see her wardrobe!  Stay tuned for a sneak peek. Happy Monday! H

Natalie | Lawrence Newborn Portraits

I shared a little sneak peek from Natalie's newborn session a while back and just realized I'd forgotten to post the rest. So brace yourself – there are massive amounts of cuteness ahead. This sweet baby was so good to me. There wasn't anything she wouldn't let us do. She was such a treat for me to photograph and as you can see she's just as gorgeous as her parents.  I even went out on a limb and made my first attempt at crocheting a baby cocoon. I kinda wish I would have had a few when Rilee and Lucee were little - I just love how snuggly the babies look in them. So sweet how her little piggies popped out… She made some of the most adorable faces. It's exhausting being a baby, you know? She even threw us a few smiles. I wonder if she'll have her mama's beautiful blue eyes… There's no doubt she'll have her daddy wrapped around her finger. Her grandma's have already showered her with lots of love. This quilt was handmade by one of them. And this quilt was made by the other one. I love being able to incorporate special things like this […]

Girl Power | Kansas City Newborn Photographer

Now that their birth announcements have gone out I can finally share these two little princesses without ruining the element of surprise.   First is Miss Julianne Faith. You saw mama Jenny Matthews' maternity session last month.   Jenny shared a photo with me this week that I just loved. She had returned to her hometown where friends and family threw a baby shower for Julianne. One of Jenny's friends made the shower cake which was inspired by Julianne's birth announcement. It even had one of her photos and the bible verse we used on the front of the announcement. It read, Every good and perfect gift is from above. James 1:17.   If you ask me, that cake is almost too pretty to eat. Keyword here being ALMOST. I have a hard time turning down cake, you see.   And the next little lovely is Miss Reese Joy, daughter of Erin and Brian who's maternity session I also shared last month. Erin is a very talented designer so it's no surprise that Reese has one of the most amazing nurseries I've ever seen. It was Reese's nursery that inspired her announcement.   I usually have a strict no clothes policy […]
