caty – kansas city senior portraits

i have so many senior sessions to blog. this is one from last fall that i realized i never posted and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. if there was a poster child for what to wear for senior portraits, it would be caty. her wardrobe was amazing! she brought such a great mix of classic, trendy, casual and dressy and her choices were full of color and texture, which always photographs so well. if i could raid caty’s closet i totally would.

caty has flawless skin so makeup artist and hair stylist melissa evans used warm tones to create a perfect sun-kissed glow that was fresh and youthful.

after we left the studio we hit lots of great locations to create a variety of looks for caty. i loved this outfit – the mix of color, pattern and texture were perfect with these incredible green doors. one of my strengths as a photographer is posing but because caty is such a natural in front of the camera she really didn’t need much direction. i could have shot her all day!

there really isn’t a color caty can’t pull of. and those shoes! i’m such a sucker for shoes.

this series was one of our favorites – mine, caty’s and her mom’s. this girl’s got perfect hair and with those gorgeous beachy waves melissa created the wind was really working in our favor.

while i’m usually a fan of color for senior portraits, i was really drawn to black and white for a lot of caty’s images.

after a few urban settings we headed to a park at sunset for some beautiful backlight during the golden hour and if you know me, you can just image the squeals as i shot these next few series.

another of my favorite outfits caty brought…the black and whites in this last series totally remind me of a guess jeans ad.

i absolutely loved working with caty and her mom and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
