about five years ago i received an email from a woman i’d never met. she was starting a magazine for kansas city women and she was looking for a photographer to shoot the cover stories. it was august and busy season was in full swing. already fully booked with portrait sessions for the remainder of the year i was hesitant to take on another project. i hadn’t seen the magazine, nor did i know the publisher. my gut instinct was to say no as i didn’t necessarily have the time to add anything else to my already busy schedule. i asked for a few days to consider her offer and when we spoke again to discuss the details she told me she really wanted me on board. i asked for more information about the magazine, which would showcase the amazing, inspirational women of kansas city and she told me her number one goal was to use this publication to keep the women of kansas city connected. i really had no idea what i was getting myself in to but hook, line and sinker – she had me. keeping women connected….who wouldn’t want to be part of that?
i took a leap of faith and five years later i’m still shooting for her life magazine. i am beyond blessed to call publisher lindsay aydelotte a friend. we’ve seen each other’s business and families grow. we’ve shared struggles and successes. and we’ve kept women connected. she’s opened a lot of doors for me and introduced me to some of the most amazing women in kansas city. she’s one hell of a business woman, a loving wife and an incredible mother. her friendship means the world to me. and would you believe that in the five years i’ve known her this is the first time i’ve had her beautiful family in front of my camera?
lindsay, it won’t be another five years before we do this again! let’s keep your family and my camera connected too, okay?
lots of love,
H
