A Mother’s Day Surprise Session | Kansas City Baby Photographer

Surprises…they practically kill me! Whether they're for me or from me, I can hardly stand them. I hate not knowing what's coming. And yes, I'm that girl that buys a Christmas gift and gives it three weeks early because I JUST. CAN'T. TAKE. IT.

When Carolyn called and asked me to photograph her sister's son as a Mother's Day surprise I was super excited. Carolyn and Christy (along with the rest of their family) are long-time friends of mine and I just adore them all, especially little Brody. He's as cute as they come and he's always so incredibly happy. We had a blast shooting and I'm totally in love with these images!

Apparently, I'm not the only one who can't hold down a surprise. Carolyn (and Christy's husband Phillip) broke down and gave Christy her Mother's Day gift a day early and I couldn't be happier because now I can finally share the images.

My absolute favorite…those little hands! Could he be any cuter? Nope, didn't think so.

He's totally gonna hate me, but how could I resist those adorable saddlebags?

Brody's daddy was in on this covert operation, too. He smuggled clothes out of the house for us and even popped in for a shot with his little man.

We put together an accordion mini album for Christy – it's one of my favorite new products. Carolyn sent me a text this morning and said Christy cried when they gave it to her. I forgot to photograph the finished product, so as soon as I can pry it from Christy's hands for five minutes I'll be sure to post a few shots.

Happy Mother's Day to Christy and all the other mama's out there!

Lots of love,

H

  1. I think the third shot down of him touching his little hands together may very well be the cutest thing I have ever seen. OMG! You are so talented, Heather!

  2. Thank you, Leslie! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. That image you love is my personal favorite, too!
